  • Meet Our Founder

    Hello,

I am an advocate for mental health, an event facilitator, and have been working in the wellness industry for almost two decades. I formed a meetup group inspired by the work of Psychologist Judith Orloff. She is the author of the Empath Survival Guide. In her book, she encourages empaths and sensitives to gather to support one another.

Often, a highly sensitive nervous system is a result of early childhood abuse or neglect. It results from our systems becoming hyper-vigilant as a survival mechanism. My intention was to create a safe space fostering learning, growth, and connection to support other empaths and sensitives. I believe community and support are essential to thrive, especially during these turbulent times.

A little about me... When I was a little girl, starting around the age of three years old, I experienced unspeakable things that a child should never experience. This spanned almost a decade and was stopped only when I started to seek answers. The aftermath was extremely damaging to my psyche, causing me to act out in various ways, some of them very self-destructive. These topics, although making progress, still possess quite a bit of social stigma.

It wasn't until I embarked on my healing journey that I began to find the tools and resources I needed to work through my trauma and process my emotions. It was through various modalities such as breathwork, yoga, meditation, hypnosis, somatic, and energy work that I found relief.

Unfortunately, my story is not uncommon. Statistics report that 1/13 males are sexually abused by the age of 18, and 1/4 females. The statistic is even higher for those that identify as non-binary. This results in mental health issues such as eating disorders, depression, PTSD, isolation, and anxiety, to name just a few. Suicidal ideation among those that are sexually abused as children increases from 9 percent of those non-sexually abused to 27%. These numbers are most likely underreported due to feelings of confusion, shame, guilt, fear, and mistrust.

I have a vision of continuing and expanding these groups. In order to do this, I am asking for your help. My vision is to have a team of trauma-informed practitioners to support survivors of sexual abuse, significantly reducing self-harm to at-risk individuals.

My mission is to provide access and support to resources and services to survivors of sexual abuse. To create safe spaces that promote well-being through various modalities, including music, movement, and art. To provide delicious, healthy, and nutritious vegan food.

I am seeking support and sponsorship so that I can make my dream a reality in creating the non-profit Survivors of Sexual Abuse Foundation. I have an initial goal of $3,000 to cover startup and legal fees.

Ways that you can help us besides a financial contribution is through volunteering. Advocacy is important to break the social stigma. I invite you to join us if you care about helping those in need in your community. You have the power to potentially change somebody's life. Your donation could be the catalyst to make someone feel supported and show them that they are not alone. Your contribution today could potentially have a ripple effect that could save someone's life. I invite you to join us on this journey. Information on how to make a lasting positive impact is available in the links in my description and bio.
